Spiritual and mental poison.
Among other things, this is an example of people 'making' God fit their ideas, ideals, and agendas.
2 Timothy 4:3-4 WEB For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts, [4] and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn away to fables.

“It is truly shocking in a country like Australia that we are seeing these devastating numbers,” said Major Bruce Harmer, head of External Communications at The Salvation Army."
To be blunt, significant numbers (the majority) of Australians, including many church members, don't deeply care about others. There are exceptions, of course. As a starting point, we must all scrutinise ourselves and determine how we can improve.

- QAN ASX: Qantas cyberattack that hit 6 million customers had ‘psychological’ edge

"“If you have a mechanism or a radar against the psychological aspect of social engineering, good luck. AI has accelerated it, but the attack vector is still the same. It preys on human emotion. Preys on the human side of things. There isn’t much you can do on that front,” Byrne said.
“You can be vigilant and sceptical and educate your employees. But fundamentally, you need to make sure you’re ready for [when it happens].”
The criminals involved tricked an employee.
Back in the day, when I gathered intelligence on subjects/targets, HUMINT (Human Intelligence) was my favourite source, and I found the psychology of it fascinating.
Of particular note, when I used a voice changer on phone calls and posed as a woman, it was a 'culture shock' when speaking with many males - how differently they talked to me compared with my usual male persona! Besides often making it easier to gather information, it gave me deep personal experiential insights into how women are treated by many men.
Once, having received intel on serious criminal activity unrelated to my work, I passed it on to the local police force via phone, but used a voice changer and routed the phone call in such a way that they couldn't trace it. I did this as a precaution in case the police had been compromised. They did not need to know my identity. Local intel reported that a significant police presence arrived at the address within the hour.
In a similar vein, I used my authentic voice, but changed how I spoke to include a slight lisp when conversing with male homosexuals over the phone when seeking information, despite never having had a gay thought in my life. They were much more helpful because I appeared to be part of their community.
One of the key reasons I stopped this work was that I grew uncomfortable with the deception involved, which included undercover operations, despite my being one of the good guys hunting bad people, and thus helping society.
One of the best compliments I received while doing this work came from an unexpected source - one of the bad guys. Being especially smart, he saw through a ruse I was using and made a phone call to a 'trap line' I ran to leave me a message saying how clever he thought my operation was. While it made me smile, I realise that his motive likely included wanting to show how smart he was and thus suggested pride as a weakness. Pride goes before a fall. It's a shame that many intelligent individuals, who could contribute significantly to society, instead turn their abilities toward crime and other antisocial activities.
